Is it the Voice of Truth or Fear?

I’ve been meditating for +7 years, and my life hasn’t changed. But you know what, my experience of life has changed because I can cut through the layers of noise and colours that put a filter on how I perceive the world around me.

When it’s noisy up there, how can we expect to discern when our inner voice is fear and when it is truth? When it’s intuition vs old thought patterns?

It’s like going to a busy high street on a school trip to survey how many people are wearing red T-shirts. With constant movement, it’s difficult to keep track of what you’ve counted and distinguish between red and brown. It’s hard to make sense of everything when the mind is so busy and constantly stimulated. Of course, we feel overwhelmed.

This confusion affects our decisions and responses to the world, from recognising when someone is not compatible, to nailing a sales pitch or knowing how we feel! Instead of acting from a place of truth and clarity on what’s what, we may react from a place of confusion, conditioning, or worry, which only perpetuates those not-so-useful patterns.

Meditation gives us the stillness and space to perceive signals and innate knowledge that is more subtle than what we currently perceive so that we can navigate our lives with clarity. I started with the app Headspace many years ago and highly recommend it if you’re a beginner.
